Shares of Sterlite Technologies (up 10.52 per cent), GTPL Hathway<\/a> (up 2.58 per cent), Bharti Infratel<\/a> (up 1.35 per cent) and ITI (up 1.24 per cent) were trading with gains.
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 4.83 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 4.60 per cent), GTL (down 3.30 per cent) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (down 0.95 per cent) were trading lower.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.79 per cent up at 1045.66 around 12:24 pm.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 29.35 points at 11,952.05 while the BSE Sensex was up 115.45 points at 39,899.97.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, DHFL, Vodafone Idea, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Vakrangee, Sterlite Tech, Dish TV India, Indiabulls RE, Spicejet and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
