On Wednesday, his resignation has been accepted by the board. Jindal joined the Pune-based Sterlite<\/a> in 2006 and started his professional career from the Vedanta group, STL's parent company.
Jindal is a charted accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and was previously heading the finance division of the group’s mining operations in Australia.
The development has come following a slew of cost-cutting measures introduced by the company amid the Covid-19 outbreak. India's predominant fibre maker has also recently decided to relocate its Mumbai office from a plush commercial location, saving as much as Rs 15 crore annually.
\"Anupam has been a key contributor to STL's growth journey and has brought about many fundamental improvements over the last 14 years. He has decided to pursue opportunities outside STL, and I along with the Board and the leadership team respect his decision. We value his remarkable contribution over the years,\" Anand Agarwal<\/a>, Group CEO at STL in a statement said.
Agarwal added that the company was in the process to appoint a new chief financial officer.
\"I am very fortunate to have been a part of STL’s transformational journey of becoming the world’s leading integrator of digital networks,\" Jindal said.
The outgoing executive thanked the board and management for their continued guidance and support during his 14-year long stint.
In Q1 2021, STL's net profit slipped by 98% over the previous year to Rs 2.85 crore, and its income fell to 38.81% at Rs 876 crore which was though attributed to non-operational facilities following shutdowns in the wake of the pandemic.
