Shares of Optiemus Infracom<\/a> (up 4.9 per cent), Reliance Communications<\/a> (up 4.58 per cent), ITI (up 4.5 per cent), GTL Infrastructure<\/a> (up 3.8 per cent) and Tata Communications<\/a> (up 3.19 per cent) were among the top gainers.
While Vindhya Telelinks<\/a> (down 2.34 per cent), OnMobile Global (down 0.5 per cent), Vodafone Idea (down 0.45 per cent) and HFCL Ltd (down 0.37 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.86 per cent up at 1268.63 around 02:29PM.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 48.50 points at 11433.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 173.73 points at 38702.05.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland, PNB and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
