“There is a good traction currently for the next round of funding from Indian and overseas investors. We will raise $25 million within 6 months,” the company’s founder and chief executive officer Shripal Gandhi, told ET.

The company will soon be announcing its international foray into neighboring countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Middle-East and Africa. It will launch some key smartphones and tablets in these countries.

Swipe, which has already developed a proprietary Android-based user interface, is now developing a services platform that will feature a slews of services such as ticket booking, healthcare, cab booking, along with content-based services. “We want to bring services and content on a single platform, which will be deeply integrated in our OS. The platform will be launched in 6-8 weeks,” Gandhi said.

The Kalaari Capital-funded company, which had clocked close to $45 million in revenues last fiscal, is also aiming to reach $100 million in revenues over the next two years as it expands its product portfolio.

Gandhi said that the company is planning to sell two million devices by the end of this fiscal with 15-30% being tablets.
The company which started as a tablet player has lately shifted its focus to the fast growing smartphone market in the country.

For the tablets, Swipe is aggressively focusing on the enterprise sales. Gandhi said, “We have a room to play in the tablet player and become a dominant. We are very strong on enterprise and build solutions or verticals such as Pharma, logistics, manufacturing, retail, and education. That’s where a massive penetration is happening, even as consumer sales decline.”

He added that the company aims to be among top three players in the country’s tablet market, which has been stagnant. Swipe offers tablets in the price range of Rs 3,000-Rs 7,000.

Swipe will also come up with its first domestically made smartphone in 45-60 days from its Pune facility, which is being set-up with an investment of $10 million. “We want to initially make devices is Rs 5,000-10,000 priced devices with good quality,” Gandhi said.

The company, which currently has over 200 employees, has recently bolstered its sales team to increase focus on the offline channel.

“We are bolstering the offline team as we want to be an omni-channel brand. We have got senior people from Fly and LG. Majority of the market is still offline and we don’t want to ignore that. However, there will be a focus on online gives for a quick reach,” Gandhi said.

The company will soon be announcing its international foray into neighboring countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Middle-East and Africa.
