\"\" NEW DELHI: Tata Teleservices<\/a> (TTSL) is aiming to double its small medium enterprise (SME) customer base to 1 lakh customers in the country with the help of marketing and connectivity solutions, growing at 20%, besides making significant investments towards its new Internet of Things (IoT<\/a>) business.

Tata Teleservices<\/a> said that out of a million small medium enterprises, around 8 lakh are underserved, which the company wants to tap. “The SME market<\/a> is about Rs 12,000- Rs 14,000 crore. It’s a large market…We have 50,000 SME customers, which is largest base in the country.”

\n“We are currently adding seven to ten thousand customers in a year,” he said, adding that the company is creating a portfolio of solutions, especially for these customers, backed by IT and connectivity solutions.

\nThe industry-wide SME segment is growing at 9%, while TTSL claims to be growing at 15% for the last three years on a consistent basis.
\nTata Teleservices currently offers marketing solutions like toll-free number services and promotional bulk messaging services to SME customers in India.

\n“SMEs are much more likely to adopt new technologies, as compared to large enterprises. They want to be more visible in the market, thereby looking at marketing solutions,” Pashine added.
\n
\nThe company reaches out to SME customers through 1200 channel partners, which includes hardware vendors and system integrators. It is also aggressively using its digital channel to reach out to these customers.

\n“We are significantly spending on digital marketing, which is 5-8 times higher than the marketing spending of last fiscal,” Harjit Singh Chauhan, business head-SME, enterprise business said.

\nInternet of Things (
IoT<\/a>) is also emerging as one of the fast growing segment for the enterprise arm. Pashine said that the company is getting 7-8 times more business in this segment, as compared to last fiscal year.

\nTTSL provides IoT connectivity services through Machine-to-Machine (M2M) SIMs for smart metering, location-based tracking services for logistics and security. Besides this, the enterprise arm also provides a complete suite of IoT solution comprising devices, applications and connectivity.

\nThe enterprise arm currently serves around 150,000 enterprises through its IT and connectivity solutions. It offers around 60 IT products to its clients in India. The enterprise business accounts for about 30% of the company's overall revenues.

TTSL's enterprise business competes with
Airtel Business<\/a>, Vodafone Business Services<\/a>, Reliance Communications<\/a>, and state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL). Airtel and Vodafone already offer 4G services and are looking to leverage the high-speed service for their enterprise offerings.

\nPashine said that TTSL conducted trials using high-speed 4G services from other telcos for the last-mile connectivity, which it intends to add in its bouquet of enterprise offerings. “We expect to commercially launch 4G-backed enterprise service in 2017,” he said.

\nTata Teleservices is also expanding its 125,000-km-long fiber network by deploying fiber in newer pockets of enterprises.
