NEW DELHI: Prime Minister<\/a> Modi<\/a> pitched for a connected India in a new world where \"Facebook<\/a>, Twitter and Instagram<\/a> are seen as neighbourhoods\". The prime minister urged some of the smartest brains in the Silicon Valley<\/a> to take interest in his pet projects - Digital India<\/a>, smart cities and Make India. Here are 14 big things he said today.

\n1) Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, they are the new neighbourhoods of our new world.
\n
2) The most fundamental debate for our youth is the choice between
Android<\/a>, iOS<\/a> or Windows.
\n
\n3) By using internet we have been able to identify applications that would make governance faster and better.
\n
\n4) Pace at which people are taking to digital technology defies our stereotypes of age, education, language and income.
\n
\n5) Since my government came to office we attacked poverty by using power of networks & mobile phones to launch a new era of empowerment.
\n
\n6) In this digital age, we have an opportunity to transform lives of people in ways that was hard to imagine just a couple of decades ago.
\n
\n7) I see technology as a means to empower and as a tool that bridges the distance between hope and opportunity.
\n
\n8) Social media is reducing social barriers. It connects people on the strength of human values, not identities.
\n
\n9) Digital India is an enterprise for India's transformation on a scale that is, perhaps, unmatched in human history.
\n
\n10) M-Governance is the way to go in a country with one billion cell phones, growing at high double digit rates.
\n
11) We are pushing for free Wi-Fi not only in airports about also in 500 railway stations. My government is collaborating with
Google<\/a> for this plan.
\n
\n12) We will connect all schools and colleges with broadband, we are expanding our public WiFi hotspots
\n
\n13) Status now is not whether you are awake or asleep, it is whether you are online or offline
\n
\n14) Google has made teachers and grandparents idle
\n
