CHENNAI<\/a>: Allaying fears on radiation<\/a> from mobile towers<\/a>, a senior Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai<\/a>) official on Wednesday said the harmful effects of electromagnetic field radiation has not been established.Speaking at a customer outreach programme organised by Trai here on Wednesday, Trai principal advisor Sunil Bajpai said people were gripped with fear of harmful effects of radiation from cellphone<\/a> towers. \u201cHowever, it has not been established that the electromagnetic field radiation causes harmful effects to human beings,\u201d he said.
While there are several studies on the adverse impact of radiations on people, there are a few studies on how the radiations will have positive effects on human beings. Citing an information paper of Trai, he said, \"Do not have unreasonable fears on radiations from mobile towers.\"
<\/div><\/div>Bajapai said the fear mongering on the evil effects of radiation had resulted in aversion among the general public for setting up of mobile towers. Lesser number of cellphone towers would affect the quality of service, he added.
