It should be noted that the Department of Telecommunications amended the existing licensing conditions for telecommunication service providers (TSPs) in March 2021, in a bid to safeguard India's telecom networks and to possibly prohibit Chinese gear vendors Huawei and ZTE, owing to national security concerns.

The National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC) has finalized the criteria for identifying trusted sources and products, and conveyed to the telcos and other stakeholders the process to provide information in a meeting attended by all telcos and foreign gear vendors - except China\u2019s Huawei and ZTE, ET reported in March 28 edition.
