\nBoth entities will, however, work together closely to explore new technology avenues, training processes and knowledge-based programs to transform India into a digitally-empowered society.

The partnership will allow telecom skills group to leverage
AoL<\/a>’s network of nearly 150 knowledge centres as well as more than 500 free schools spread across the country.

“With India’s low skill set, there has been a big challenge. The whole ecosystem during last 67 years was without suitable skills,” Skill Development & Entrepreneurship minister

\nIndia, despite becoming a new investment destination among multinationals and Centre’s ambitious programs such as Digital India and Make in India, has a mere 3% skilled workforce, much below the Korea (96%), Germany (75%), the UK (70%) and US (45%).

\nRudy however said that while there have been primary schools in villages, the country was failing on skills training front.
\n
\n“Telecom is one of the largest and fastest growing sectors in the world, and despite that it lacks relevant skill sets to fix up optical fibre,” the minister remarked, underlining the need for skilling youth.
\n
Under the co-initiative, TSSC will utilize
Art of Living<\/a> Digital India Movement for training and assessment purposes in the rural and semi-urban regions of the country with participation from the academia and industry<\/a> players.
\n
\n“This country does not lack resources but there are gaps such as skills. We have lot of free schools in rural and tribal areas. The change in mindset combined with skills can help India change,” the spiritual guru said.
\n
\nThe innovation, inspiration and energy, according to Ravi Shankar, could drive youth to acquire skills to become future entrepreneurs.
\n
“It (partnership) is a big leap. There will be nearly 83 lakhs opportunities in next five years in the telecom industry alone. We are signing MoU (memorandum of understanding) to become enabler for skill sets,” TSSC chief executive Lt Gen (retired)
