MUMBAI: Viacom18 is ready to enter the Indian over-the-top (OTT<\/a>) video<\/a> streaming space with the launch of ‘VOOT<\/a>’ by the end of this month. Initially an advertising-led video-ondemand (or AVOD) service, VOOT will launch with more than 17,000 hours of content, including shows from the network channels, originals, content around films and reality shows, and most importantly, content for kids.

Sudhanshu Vats, group CEO at Viacom18, told ET that VOOT will be the “biggest investment of the company since the launch of its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel Colors” in 2008. “While at the group level we create 10,000 hours of content every year, VOOT will not be treated as a catch up for TV, like some other players. Some amount of catch up will be there but we are positioning it as an
